Not Your Average Driftwood

Not Your Average Driftwood

What is driftwood:    Driftwood is wood that has washed up on shore from the remains of trees, logging or the remains of man-made wooden objects either lost and/or destroyed at sea or on land and then washed out to sea.  Although it seems quite difficult if not completely impossible to determine the origins of the driftwood, we do know that it can be a great addition to furniture or art pieces.  Interestingly enough, Norse mythology believes that the first humans were formed out of two pieces of driftwood, Ask and Embla.  And some Arctic cultures, such as Inuit, that lived north of the tree line completely replied upon driftwood for their primary source of wood for building. Today we appreciate the mystery of this wood and the endless  possibilities  it presents us with.
