General Electric Opens Their Century Old Capsule

Just 315 days until  General  Electric celebrates their 100th anniversary.  Here is a brief timeline of events:

  • March 25th, 1912 – the time capsule was buried at the future home of GE Lighting’s office complex.
  • March 26, 2012 marked the beginning of this celebration starting with the unveiling of a century old time capsule containing historic documents and even 100 year old incandescent light bulbs.
  • In April of 2013,  GE Lighting  will be hosting a celebration at  Nela Park  in Cleveland, Ohio in honor of this landmark anniversary.

It’s fitting that this time capsule was meant to be unearthed when significant changes in the incandescent light bulb occurred, GE Lighting President and CEO Maryrose Sylvester said in a statement.
